- The aim is to achieve a total card value of 21 without exceeding 21.
- Getting exactly 21 is a good thing and known as “blackjack”.
- Jacks, Queens and Kings have a value of 10.
- The Ace card has a value of 1 or 11.
- To begin each player will receive 2 cards and can be dealt a further 9.
- A PUSH is when the player and dealer tie. If this happens the player will have his/ her bet for that round returned.
- Going BUST is when the total of 21 is exceeded.
- To STAND indicates that a player is satisfied with his/ her hand and does not wish to be dealt any more cards for that round.
- To HIT is to request another card from the dealer.
- A SPLIT occurs when both cards of the original deal are of equal value. The player has the option to split them and play two hands simultaneously. The bet is also doubled.
